Osbournes are the Center of Controversy—Shocker Huh?

America’s second most dysfunctional family is back. I’m talking about the Osbournes—sorry, I’m saving the number one spot for the Bundys of Married with Children.  This time, we get to see Ozzy, Sharron, Jack, and Kelly in a variety show. The Osbournes: Reloaded is like a dirty version of something I could picture Donny and Marie hosting.
I actually laughed out loud—yes, I LOL’ed—during the pilot episode. The things people do are so absurd, so wrong that my twisted sense of humor can’t help itself.  We got to see a guy make out with a stranger for 100 bucks. Little did he know, the hot girl he thought he was kissing was switched with an old lady.
My favorite part of the show was a bit that all of us who have worked with customers at one point or another can relate to. This featured the Osbournes working in a fast food restaurant.
Kelly was armed with her bad attitude, army of four letter words, a headset, and a barrage of picky customers. I know I’ve wanted to throw my share of food at people—the difference is, she actually did.
Needless to say, this show could only air on Fox. They are the only network capable of keeping up with the bleeping.
WARNING: POLITICAL CONTENT TO FOLLOW: not even a network as progressive as Fox could manage to get this show to air in all of its markets. Many more conservative stations decided to preempt the program and show something in its place.
They are claiming that it is because the show follows American Idol and it has a huge family audience that would spill over into Reloaded. While I get this, what I do not get is why parents would not have the common sense to turn the channel. What’s this? A parent actually spending time with their kids and approving the things they watch on TV ( I am showing my age. I grew up in the good ol' days of the 90's).
I’m not saying that this show is appropriate for everybody, but what I am asking is why should those of us who happen to like shows like this suffer because some people are too lazy to parent their children? UGH—conservatives. It seems like this is a fight that will be being fought for many years to come, but I’m not giving up.
POLITICAL CONTENT ENDED
Go ahead and give this show a try. I think it will fit in well with college humor. Either way, if you don’t like it, turn the channel and the ratings will speak for themselves. Just don’t take the morals of one and apply them to everyone.
